ROC
Abiding Word Evangelical Lutheran Church supports a seniors group called the ROC, which stands for Red Oak Centurians. This is a 50’s+ group of men and women who are united in faith for the purpose of supporting Abiding Word in reaching out with the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to nurture our members for lives of Christian service.
ROC makes 5 or 6 trips a year to enjoyable locations. Previous trips have included destinations as the Painted Churches in Schulenburg, the Sam Houston Monument in Huntsville, the Liberty Opry, The San Jacinto Monument, and the Texas Railroad Museum in Rosenberg, several destinations in Galveston, as well as annual trips to the Barnhart Winery for wine, cheese and an outdoor concert. Each trip typically includes a trip to a local restaurant for relaxed dining and fellowship.
We also provide services to Abiding word in the way of volunteering to assist at the school sponsored festivals, visiting the infirmed, and serving meals before Advent and Lenten services. To become a part of this group, or for additional information, simply contact Debby or Bill Perry.
